Government plans to introduce more commercial providers into general practice could destabilise existing services, depersonalise care and put some GP practices at risk of closure. Private firms are winning contracts for GP practices and the Birmingham PCTs have been instructed by the government to set up six new surgeries and three new health centres, that commercial providers can bid for.

A revised constitution for Birmingham LMC was approved by the Committee on 12 February 2008.The changes bring the constitution in line with revised regulations and legislation. The new constitution can be accessed here and in our Documents section.
